“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.”
Traumatic experiences send shockwaves through our systems, making it difficult to break through our pain and degrade our ability to function and enjoy life. Trauma may appear as physical and/or emotional pain and be leading you to self-destructive patterns.
Is your mind frequently occupied by negative thoughts, ruminations, and worry about the future? You may find yourself overwhelmed with nervous energy, unable to sleep, or frozen with symptoms of panic.
Do you feel stuck and alone? Are you unfulfilled, but don’t know how to change? You may find yourself heavy and unmotivated to engage in what once brought you pleasure.
Do you find yourself lying awake with your mind searching for a way to feel more overall peace and well being? It's time to make a change.
Are you feeling stuck and alone? Do you feel anxious, depressed, or trapped in the chaos of negative thoughts, but don't know how to change? Are you unfulfilled in your relationships? These struggles may keep you awake at night, searching for a way to feel more overall peace and well being. Traumatic experiences make it difficult to break through pain and hopelessness, and may be leading you to self-destructive patterns. Your pain and emotional suffering is bearable when you share it.

My work as a trauma therapist hinges on my experiential faith in the healing capacity of an integrated body and mind. The prevalence of alcoholism and poverty in my family led me to experience a great deal of anxiety as a child, but I was lucky enough to be exposed to creativity as a means of expression and healing from an early age. Dance and theater helped me through some of my most trying traumas. The arts paved my way to finding other movement-based modalities to continued growth and exploration.
My work with clients is rooted in several years of experience as a yoga and meditation practitioner and instructor, a passion for social justice, and reverence for the Spirit of nature and Eastern philosophies. I utilize Somatics, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and mindfulness based psychotherapy to facilitate relief from the emotional distress associated with disturbing life experiences.
I am committed to guiding clients toward lifestyle choices that promote joy and resilience. I balance my life as a yoga teacher, wife, mother, and trauma therapist by utilizing these tools personally as well.
Our sessions will guide you on your road to discovering and growing the incredible resources you possess. Begin your path to peace by affirming your ability to find confidence, relaxation, clarity, connections and relief within.
Today I have all that I need to meet the challenges and opportunities that I encounter.
I am centered in my body and at ease in my breath. Inhale - Exhale
I see clearly the path before me with listening ears, wide eyes, and an open heart, I trust my intuition.
I trust myself to make choices that honor my needs, as well as create intimacy and trust in others.
I deserve to feel joy, wellness, and relaxation. I can rest.
From emdr.com:
“EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.” EMDR’s protocols and procedures are well researched and can work quickly to help clients activate their natural healing processes.
EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. Just as when we cut our skin the body innately begins to heal the wound, EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events heal our mental trauma. “The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health.” © 2018 EMDR INSTITUTE, INC. This method, developed by Dr. PETER A LEVINE, works from the premise that the traumatic event isn’t what caused the trauma, “it is the overwhelmed response to the perceived life threat that is causing an unbalanced nervous system.”
From somaticexperiencing.com:
When we work with pain and trauma from a somatic perspective, it is unnecessary to relive difficult memories, but instead we look to the body’s wisdom in the form of sensations to better understand feelings and transform our habitual behavior patterns.
“Somatic Experiencing® works to release this stored energy, and turn off this threat alarm that causes severe dysregulation and dissociation.”

Mindfulness is the practice and process of bringing one's attention on experiences of thoughts, emotions, and sensations occurring in the present moment. This attention can be cultivated through a gentle, non-judgmental stance as the “witness” to one’s own state of being and can allow for a greater sense of freedom and peace.
